I dreamed I was visiting a current friend named Nancy. IRL she lives in Utah, but in the dream she lived in South Dakota, and in the dream this state was down close to New Mexico. Oddly also in the dream (slightly political) this state was liberal. I was curious how Nancy liked it there. She is mostly conservative I think, I’m more liberal. But I wouldn’t call either of us political, certainly not extreme either way. But I was curious because I’ve thought about moving somewhere else. There was snow outside her home and out of nowhere this beautiful white horse ran by the window. I was breathtaking, but they were not surprised. They were like, oh yeah that happens. Her daughter was there in the kitchen with us, she’s about 10 years old. Her home was beautiful. It is IRL too. Then out of nowhere, we were all planning for a wedding and other people were there. I woke up and dropped her television remote and the battery case broke. I was working to fix it as people were coming in and going by. I felt bad I broke it, but I think it was ok. I saw a friend from college named Diana. I said hi. I thought she didn’t recognize me and asked. She said, oh I do recognize you, I’m just still drunk from last night. I could tell then that she was slurring her words and looked rough and hungover. (Oddly, this isn’t how Diana ever acted. IDK, but IRL, my ex boyfriend from college passed away, and back in college, this behavior may have fit him. He was kind, funny, and great, but did drink. I have no idea if that’s even related to this part of the dream. I’m very close to Nancy but I wasn’t super close to Diana, but we were college roommates briefly, and we were in the same sorority and in the dance team together. She was kind to me, accepting, friendly, but also sometimes didn’t feel fully accepted. It could have been me though. Overall we were kind friends to each other. I suppose Nancy and Diana have in common that they have elements that remind me of myself, kind, sweet, and all, and I admired qualities about both of them.)
Dreams often reflect our subconscious thoughts, emotions, and experiences, weaving them together into scenarios that may seem nonsensical on the surface but hold deeper meanings. Let's explore the elements and symbols present in your dream to uncover what they might signify:
Visiting Nancy in South Dakota: In reality, Nancy lives in Utah, but your dream shifted her to South Dakota. This could symbolize a desire to explore new territories or change in your life. The mention of it being closer to New Mexico and politically liberal might hint at a longing for an environment that aligns more with your beliefs or aspirations. Such a juxtaposition suggests you are contemplating your own position and how environment or community impacts personal identity.
The Snow and the White Horse: Snow often symbolizes purity, tranquility, or a fresh start. The appearance of a beautiful white horse, especially one that seemed mundane to others, might signify a newfound freedom or a powerful, but graceful force entering your life. Horses also represent strength, courage, and a spirit of adventure, possibly indicating a desire for these qualities or acknowledgment of them in your current journey.
The Wedding Planning: Weddings in dreams often symbolize union, transition, or commitment. The sudden shift to planning a wedding could reflect a subconscious reflection on your connections with others or a metaphor for uniting different aspects of your own personality.
Breaking the Remote: Breaking the television remote and trying to fix it might signify feeling out of control or concern over disrupting something stable in your life. The fact that people were entering and leaving during this moment suggests movement or change while you are trying to handle a situation delicately.
Diana's Appearance and Drunkenness: Diana not recognizing you and appearing hungover might relate to feelings of past connections and how they've evolved or faded over time. Her behavior, more reflective of your ex-boyfriend, might illustrate mixed emotions or unresolved feelings about past relationships. It may also symbolize feeling disconnected or misunderstood in certain circles or phases of your life.
Interpersonal Relationships and Reflection: Your dream involves close friends and acquaintances who share qualities you recognize in yourself. This suggests introspection about your identity, how it's perceived by others, and how much you resonate with their qualities. The presence of both Nancy and Diana might signal a bridge between current times and past experiences, reflecting on how both define who you are.
Overall, your dream seems to focus on themes of change, self-exploration, and the blending of different experiences and relationships into your identity. It could serve as a reflection of your current mindset and life circumstances, nudging you towards understanding what you truly value and seek in your life journey.
